I wanted to use my Synology NAS with these features to provide a private and personal web interface displaying all my Kodi’s movies and TV show scraped, and so, if I was outside home, I would have been able to browse and download my personal content with ease.
Directory Server : an LDAP server in the Synology for manage users and groups A Synology NAS acts as a complete web server to host my Kodi’s data and the Kodi Web Portal. phpMyAdmin : to administrate the MariaDB database. Through this excellent kind of NAS, you can deploy additionnal module in the DSM, like : Original idea of Kodi Web Portal came from my personal centralization of all backuped movies and tv shows into a Synology NAS. Kodi Web Portal allows you to access your Kodi’s database through a simple web browser. 
This dabatase contains all your movies references, tv shows, details about them (script writers, realisators, actors, studio, synopsis, original title and in your language, etc.), fanart and thumb URLs and file path to play the content. You can use Kodi (XBMC) with a MySQL/MariaDB database to centralized all your multimedia content. This web application requires an access to the MySQL’s Kodi database. Kodi Web Portal needs to be deployed with a direct file access to your media content if the downloading feature is enabled. This web application is very light, without framework (except JQuery) and dependencies.
Extended support for browsing movies by country and through UPnP as well as user-ratings which we be added in future versions.Kodi Web Portal is a web interface to browse, display, search and eventually download your Kodi multimedia content indexed. The Music Library and Files View for music have now been unified, similar to how video files and library are unified. The Kodi GUI now supports a new stereoscopic depth effect for users of Kodi on 3D TVs or VR headsets. 
Kodi now supports being compiled with Xcode 7. Three finger touchpad mapping in iOS to make room for new tablet gestures which will be available in Alpha 4 to complement existing tablet gestures. Other changes include support of Kodi on 3D or VR headsets, unified music library and file views and extended support for browsing movies by country via UPnP. The main change is a long press action on remote controls which has been added due to many remotes not having a right click menu button. Alpha 3 of the media center is just for testing and not designed for full time use yet. Yesterday I wrote about RC3 of Kodi 15.2 but development of Kodi 16 Jarvis also continues.
